Career/Vocational/Technical ScholarshipDeadline: April 15, 2020 The Calvert-Prince Frederick Optimist Club, through their Calvert Optimist Community Parks Foundation, Inc., awards an annual scholarship providing financial assistance to students graduating from Calvert County public high schools seeking post-secondary career education, vocational or technical training (up to a two-year program) at any trade or technical school, college or university approved by the Optimist Club of Calvert which results in the applicant being awarded accredited vocational certification or Associates Degree. The $3,000 scholarship is paid at the rate of $1,500 each year and must be used for career education, vocational or technical training. Payments are made directly to the student in advance of the fall semester each year. Knapp Scholarship $8000 and Jim King Scholarship $6000Deadline: April 15, 2020 The Optimist Club of Calvert-Prince Frederick, through the Calvert Optimist Community Parks Foundation, Inc., each year awards two (2) scholarships providing financial assistance to students graduating from Calvert County public high schools for undergraduate study in the field of their choice at a college or university. These scholarship awards must be used for continued education at any college or university approved by the Optimist Club of Calvert. The first-place scholarship recipient will receive the Optimist Club of Calvert-Knapp Scholarship; an award of $8,000, to be paid at the rate of $2,000 per year for up to four (4) years of continuing education. The second-place scholarship recipient will receive the Optimist of Calvert-Jim King Scholarship; an award of $6,000, to be paid at the rate of $1,500 per year for up to four (4) years of continuing education. Payments are made directly to the student in advance of the fall semester each year over a four-year period. Deadline: March 1, 2020 The Maryland Higher Education Commission is happy to announce that the 2020-2021 Veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq Conflicts (VAIC) Scholarship Program application is now available! To apply, you will need to create an account within the Maryland College Aid Processing System (MDCAPS). To create or log into your existing MDCAPS account (if applicable), please visit https://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us/MDCAPS/login.aspx. Once you log into your MDCAPS account, you will see the "Apply" link where you may submit your application and view any additional documentation required for consideration of the scholarship. Please note that the VAIC application, the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and all additional documents required must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Assistance at the Maryland Higher Education Commission no later than March 1, 2020.
