Accepting applications through May 11, 2021 at 7:30 PM ETThe 2021 National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program (NHSC SP) awards scholarships to students pursuing an education in eligible primary care health professions. About the Program: The NHSC Scholarship Program applicants include health professional students studying to become physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives or physician assistants with a commitment to practice in underserved communities. In exchange, they commit to serve a minimum of two years in high-need, underserved communities. Scholars receive one year of financial support (up to four years) for each year of service at an NHSC-approved site. The completed application must be received no later than May 1What criteria must be met in order to apply for one of two $1000 awards? A candidate must: 1) Be graduating from high school in the spring of the current school year; public, private, parochial, and home schoolers are welcome to apply. 2) Be a resident of Charles, Calvert, or St. Mary’s county in Southern Maryland. 3) Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (B average) as verified by an official transcript, and grades from at least 2 grading periods of the applicant’s senior year. 4) Have participated in the performing arts in some capacity. 5) Have been involved in community service in some capacity. 6) Submit all application materials by the deadline as noted on the application. (If selected to receive the Port Tobacco Players Memorial Scholarship, the applicant must provide the Port Tobacco Players, Inc. with a letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university, before the scholarship will be awarded). Academically speaking, the student must be attending class at the time of application and maintain a 2.5 GPA. He or she can be in any year of school, even post-grad, and the scholarship can be used for anything, even study abroad or rent. Winners are announced by the 20th of May. |
