Amount of Award: $1,000 To apply for this scholarship students will need to write an essay on the topic listed on our website at https://abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.php. The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words. The submissions must be sent to us by email at: [email protected] Accepting applications for its sixth annual college scholarship program for graduating high school seniors through Friday, May 29.Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the closing of schools across Maryland and Washington, D.C., Miss Utility/District One Call has extended the deadline of its annual college scholarship program to FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2020. We understand that it is a difficult time, and we want to ensure that students still have access to funds that will help them as they prepare for their college careers. We accept unofficial transcripts. Students can include them in their application, or if it is easier, please feel free to send them directly to [email protected]. If you do not currently have access to students’ transcripts, please let us know. To submit the Miss Utility/District One Call Scholarship application online, click here. If interested in submitting the application by mail in its entirety, please find a traditional application attached but let students know to please ignore the April deadline. Miss Utility/District One Call will select eight graduating high school seniors from Maryland and Washington, D.C., to each receive a $1,008.11 single-year scholarship. Applications will be accepted until May 29, 2020. Scholarship recipients will be notified in June 2020. To be eligible, applicants must be on track to graduate from a Maryland or Washington, D.C., high school in spring 2020 and intend to enroll in an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or technical school beginning in fall 2020. Students will now only have to fill out the application, provide their GPA on the application and include a 500 word or less essay on the topic included in the application. This is good information for seniors and their families especially, but maybe all families in case they have other children who are currently in college. Emergency cash aid may be available for current college students who have incurred unexpected expenses as a result of interruption of education due to COVID-19.
