This is an application package for a scholarship offered by Sigma Alpha Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Incorporated. The application can be downloaded from their website at www.sal1906.org. They are located in Charles County Maryland; however, their chapter serves all three counties.
Once again the Fort Myer Thrift Shop is accepting applications for its 2018-2019 Scholarship Program. The Scholarships are awarded based on merit and are available to the children (up to age 22) of active duty, retired or deceased U.S. Army military personnel who maintain a dependent military ID Card. Applicants for the scholarships must have a 3.0 GPA to be eligible. There is also a residency requirement for these scholarships. Both the applicant and sponsor must reside in one of the following cities or countries in the Greater Washington Area: a. District of Columbia b. In Maryland, the counties of Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Montgomery or Prince George c. In Virginia, The counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Stafford or Prince William or the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas or Manassas Park. Each year the Fort Myer Thrift Shop (a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization) raises money through donations and consignments. Dedicated volunteers and staff generously give of their time by working numerous hours every year to raise scholarship funds for these deserving students. It is an essay contest for students in 2 and 4 year colleges, as well as students in grad school. The essay must talk about how the writer was impacted by cancer. The deadline is March 25th, and there are 4 prizes of up to $2500. That’s right! The Live Más Scholarship is not based on your grades or how well you play sports. No essays, no test scores, no right or wrong answers. We’re looking for the next generation of innovators, creators and dreamers. In 2018, the Taco Bell Foundation will be awarding $3 million in Live Más Scholarships. $1 million will be awarded through our new applicant program, $1.5 million through our renewal program for previous recipients, and $500,000 through our program for Taco Bell restaurant employees. APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 18. We are pleased to once again extend the Hamilton Relay Scholarship opportunity to graduating high school seniors in Maryland who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking to assist in their goals of continuing their education. Hamilton Relay selects one candidate from each of the states where Hamilton is the contracted service provider. All candidates are required to submit an application, write an essay under the topic of communication technology and provide a letter of recommendation in order to qualify.
