We are offering a $1,000 award to students pursuing a health-related degree program who have been personally affected by addiction. Deadline: June 30, 2018 The Recovery Village is dedicated to maintaining exceptional service while providing unique opportunities for education and personal development. As part of this commitment, The Recovery Village is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing a medical-related course of study. To enter to win a $1,000 scholarship, simply submit a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing why you are passionate about substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Essays can be in the form of a personal narrative with a medical perspective or focus specifically on clinical experience. Do you have a compelling recovery story? Have you witnessed the challenges that addiction can present, or helped someone overcome substance use disorder? Share your experience and describe why you are eager to enter the health care field for a chance to be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The winner(s) of this annual scholarship will receive their award within 2 weeks of the listed deadline. Application Procedure for 2018 To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the topic below. The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals. Scholarships will be administered through the Society of American Foresters (SAF). All scholarship hopefuls must be enrolled in an accredited natural resource curriculum at an educational institution based in the USA. Applicants should be full-time students pursuing a two-year, four-year or post-graduate degree. Qualifying fields of study include, but are not limited to, agro forestry, urban forestry, environmental studies, natural resource management, natural resource recreation, wildlife management, wood science and fisheries.

BASIS OF SELECTION Basic Requirements for Both Scholarships a) Applicant must be enrolled in a qualifying two-year, four-year or post-graduate program during the year the scholarship will be awarded. b) Applicant must provide one letter of recommendation from educational superior, such as professor, teacher, or advisor. Judging Criteria for the Academic Achievement Scholarship a) List of clubs, activities, and years involved. b) Summary or list of accomplishments relating to your field of study. c) Essay of 300 words or less how these achievements have helped you grow individually and expand your interest in your field of study. d) Cumulative GPA must be 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Big Sun Athletic Organization is dedicated to providing an opportunity for young athletes to learn and to excel. We are developing programs in all sports in our community in an effort to keep our children motivated, healthy and to teach them the value of teamwork. Who is eligible? All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in or the capacity in which they participate.
