The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place.
ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, and state-level recognition. We encourage students in the graduating class of 2019 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria to apply:

Purpose of Scholarships AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education. Scholarship Criteria Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. How to Apply Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question: When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey? Each winner will be personally notified by email. ![]() The Meyerhoff Scholars Program is open to all high-achieving high school seniors who have an interest in pursuing doctoral study in the sciences or engineering, and who are interested in the advancement of minorities in the sciences and related fields. Students must be nominated for the program and are most typically nominated by their high school administrators, guidance counselors, and teachers. Awards range from $5,000-$22,000 per year for four years. Prospective students are encouraged to explore the entire Meyerhoff Scholars Program website, as well as the general UMBC site.
