The Central Democratic Committee is looking for student volunteers to be at polling locations during the upcoming general election. Students will have the opportunity to earn Service Learning Hours (bring your own form) and will not be expected to volunteer past 5:00 p.m. Proper dress is required.

If you’re a senior living with parents or guardians who are SMECO customer-members, and you have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, you’re eligible to apply.
Submit your application package to SMECO by Monday, April 3, 2017. You can receive an application from your school’s guidance counselor or download the application. Drop off your completed application and supporting documents at SMECO’s Hughesville office or Leonardtown office, or mail the package to: SMECO Attention: Bernadette Lewis P.O. SMECO awards scholarships based on scholastic achievement, financial need, an interview, school involvement, and community involvement. The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Eligibility Requirements In order to participate in the scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria: • Student must be a high school senior or college student, and a legal resident of the United States • Student must be enrolled in school no later than September 30, 2017 • Winner is not based on financial need • Applicants required to submit a video (see “Make A Video” tab on the website listed above) • Student must be planning on or already enrolled in one of the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules • Winner of the scholarship must be living in the United States This scholarship will be reoccurring and available both in the fall and spring.
The Maryland Mensa 2016-2017 Scholarship Essay Contest has begun. Cash awards of $300 to $1,000 will be granted to winners. The contest is free and open to all graduating high school seniors. It is not necessary to be a Mensa member to enter or win. Please click below for more information.
