Deadline and Eligibility RENEWED DEADLINE: June 14, 2018 AWARD VALUE: $1,000 The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution. Application Procedure for 2018 To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the topic below. The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals. State of Maryland International Reading Association Council Joseph J. Fox, Jr. Memorial Scholarship The Joseph J. Fox, Jr. Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to three graduates of any Maryland high school who plan to major in education at an accredited college or university. Recipients of this scholarship must meet the specific criteria for each scholarship. Scholarship Criteria 1. Applicant must verify graduation from a Maryland high school. 2. Applicant must be accepted and enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university. 3. Applicant must major in Education with the intent to pursue teaching as a career. 4. Applicant must have maintained an overall GPA of 3.2 or better in high school and submit a high school transcript with the application. 5. Applicant must document current or previous community service in education-related activities or organizations/clubs, etc. 6. Applicant must submit a completed application that follows the scholarship rubric 7. Applicant must apply by the scholarship deadline. Each of the three scholarships are awarded for $2,000.00. Selected recipients will receive the scholarship funding upon presentation of a copy of a college or university tuition bill.
All applications must be submitted to the SoMIRAC Scholarship Committee Chairperson, and be postmarked by April 15, 2018. Winners will also receive a letter informing them of their selection for this scholarship. Healthcare education is very rewarding, but it can also be rather costly. To help reduce these costs, there are scholarships currently available through HealthcareSystemCareersEDU.org. Our selection committee names a scholarship recipient on a bi-annual basis. Each winner will receive a $500 scholarship award to put to the cost of health care related education. Application Form *See website below for complete scholarship. Scholarship Application Deadlines Students have up until May 1st to apply for the Spring Healthcare Academic Scholarship. The deadline for the Fall scholarship is November 1st. Students may not apply each season and will only be eligible to submit one application every 12 months. Official Rules To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be enrolled in a healthcare related program. Applications must be submitted to HealthcareSystemCareersEDU.org. Candidates must follow the application instructions, which include the submission of an original essay on the assigned topic. Essays must be a minimum of 800 words in length, but must not exceed 1000 words. Correct formatting is expected on all essays that are submitted. Applications that contain any type of false information will be disqualified immediately. Plagiarism found in the essay portion will also disqualify an applicant. Each essay is expected to be the original work of the applicant. Applicants will be asked to submit an essay that showcases their ability to fully answer the essay question and provide an ample amount of reasoning and insight. Selection Criteria HealthcareSystemCareersEDU.org has formed a scholarship selection committee that will review and consider each application. Each applicant will be measured by past academic performance, extracurricular activities, history of employment, and the individual essay. Qualifying fields of study include, but are not limited to, agro forestry, urban forestry, environmental studies, natural resource management, natural resource recreation, wildlife management, wood science and fisheries.
