The Big Sun Athletic Organization is dedicated to providing an opportunity for young athletes to learn and to excel. We are developing programs in all sports in our community in an effort to keep our children motivated, healthy and to teach them the value of teamwork. Who is eligible? All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in or the capacity in which they participate. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute. Please remember to include your name and the name of the school that you are attending. Deadline June 19, 2018 SMECO is offering $1,500 college scholarships to four high school seniors who are graduating in 2018. If you’re a senior living with parents or guardians who are SMECO customer-members, and you have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, you’re eligible to apply.

Completed applications are due by January 5th, 2018 Each year the Maryland JCI Senate awards two $500 Scholarships to deserving seniors from Maryland high schools. The Maryland winners are chosen based on merit and need. The applications of the two Maryland winners are then forwarded to the US JCI Senate Foundation for consideration for a $1000 Scholarship. Information, applications, and instructions for these scholarships are located at the UNITED STATE JCI SENATE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION website at www.usjcisenate.org The Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer. The goals of SEAP are to encourage participating students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further their education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN. SEAP provided competitive research internships to over 294 high school students this year. Participating students spend eight weeks during the summer doing research at 25 DoN laboratories. Applicants must be high school seniors starting college in the fall of 2018 or full time college students at any community college or four -year institution. Applicants or their parents/guardians MUST be members of Maryland Farm Bureau. Three of the scholarships will be offered to agricultural curriculum majors and two scholarships will be offered to non-agricultural or agricultural curriculum majors. We are accepting applications from current high school seniors to be a part of the 2018 class of Coca-Cola Scholars.
