MARYLAND HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION 2017-2018 GUARANTEED ACCESS GRANT PROGRAM Income Requirements (See file attached) There have been changes made to the Howard P. Rawlings Guaranteed Access Grant (GA Grant) program beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year. Please be advised that there will no longer be an application process for students to complete in order to be considered for the GA Grant. The Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) at MHEC will identify Maryland students that meet the income requirements for the GA Grant based on the information provided on the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Although students are able to submit their FAFSA as early as October 1st of each year, March 1st will remain the OSFA’s deadline for the FAFSA to be submitted in order for priority consideration of the GA Grant. As of today the OSFA has begun identifying potentially eligible GA Grant recipients for the 2017-18 award year that have already completed the FAFSA as earlier as October 1. The OSFA will continue to identify potentially eligible GA Grant recipients weekly until April 1st. Students that have not submitted a FAFSA by April 1st will not be considered for the GA Grant.
