Every year, we have to turn applicants down before even reviewing their application due to the fact that they don’t meet the eligibility requirement of being a PTSO member themselves, or an immediate family member belonging to the PTSO. It only costs $10 to join the PTSO—and it’s amazing how little participation we have from seniors and/or their parents. I’m attaching the PTSO membership form (can also be found across from the attendance office) and the scholarship provider sheet (which is also available with Calvert Local Scholarship clearinghouse). Applicants must intend to be a full-time student during academic year 2018-2019 enrolled in any accredited institution of higher learning in the United States. For college/university students currently enrolled in a full-time course of study in a relevant major: Applicants, including students now receiving financial aid from the MSSA Scholarship Foundation, may be at any grade level from college freshman to junior and intend to be a full-time student in the next academic year. ESSAY/PRESENTATION SCHOLARSHIP RULES The WMCCAI Essay Contest is open to all high-school seniors within the WMCCAI service area (the immediate Washington metro area) living within a community (i.e., a neighborhood, homeowners association, condominium association, or cooperative association). REQUIREMENTS a. A 500-700 word essay on “How Do You See Your Community Best Utilizing Social Media?” Describe ways to implement social media in your community to tell a compelling story of a great place to live. Include the potential pros and cons of using social media. Your community would include your neighborhood, homeowners association, condominium, or cooperative association.
