Nominate an Outstanding Calvert County Woman or Girl for Commission for Women Awards in Advocacy…Business Leadership…Service…Women of Tomorrow One of the most rewarding aspects of chairing the Commission for Women is honoring Calvert County women and girls who exemplify the best of the best. Each year the Commission solicits nominations of women who excel in three areas – advocacy, business leadership, and service. The Commission also honors a “Woman of Tomorrow” – a girl or young woman under age 20 who is already making a difference through her advocacy, leadership, or service. The main criterion for “Woman of Tomorrow” is impact on our community, not academic excellence. Winners must have made a positive impact on our community, have been a Calvert County resident for at least five years, have a completed Nomination Form submitted by Saturday, December 31, 2016, and commit to attend the March 11, 2017 Women of the World luncheon to receive the award in person. If, in the past, you nominated someone who did not win, consider submitting a stronger application for 2017. Submit completed Nomination Forms electronically to [email protected] or by regular mail to: Calvert County Commission for Women, Attn: Inez Claggett, Chair, PO Box 479, Owings, MD 20736. Nomination forms may be downloaded by clicking here. Please share this request and the Nomination Form with your friends and family, neighbors, coworkers, faith community, and social networks. Knowing how many talented and effective women and girls there are in Calvert County, we look forward to receiving many nominations for our four Commission for Women awards – Advocacy, Business Leadership, Service, and Woman of Tomorrow! The Calvert County Commission for Women is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to improve opportunities for Calvert women and girls. MARYLAND HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION 2017-2018 GUARANTEED ACCESS GRANT PROGRAM Income Requirements (See file attached) There have been changes made to the Howard P. Rawlings Guaranteed Access Grant (GA Grant) program beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year. Please be advised that there will no longer be an application process for students to complete in order to be considered for the GA Grant. The Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) at MHEC will identify Maryland students that meet the income requirements for the GA Grant based on the information provided on the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Although students are able to submit their FAFSA as early as October 1st of each year, March 1st will remain the OSFA’s deadline for the FAFSA to be submitted in order for priority consideration of the GA Grant. As of today the OSFA has begun identifying potentially eligible GA Grant recipients for the 2017-18 award year that have already completed the FAFSA as earlier as October 1. The OSFA will continue to identify potentially eligible GA Grant recipients weekly until April 1st. Students that have not submitted a FAFSA by April 1st will not be considered for the GA Grant.
